Chief Justice Yahya Afridi announces judicial reforms in Pakistan

Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has announced changes to the Code of Conduct aimed at freeing judges from external pressure. Speaking at a national conference regarding judicial reforms and the timely delivery of justice, the Chief Justice emphasized that all institutions must fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

He highlighted the critical role of district courts as the backbone of the justice system and called for strengthened coordination between district courts and high courts. To modernize the judiciary, Afridi noted that courts are being transitioned to solar power systems, provided with improved internet connectivity, and equipped with e-libraries.

In Balochistan, work is underway to provide basic necessities, including solar power, to all tehsils and districts, alongside the establishment of facility centers for women and children. Additionally, health insurance has been approved for judicial officers nationwide. The Chief Justice expressed pride in the subordinate judiciary and noted that over 3 billion rupees have been allocated this year to improve access to justice.
