Chief Leemon Ikpea donates N2.2bn medical centre to Edo State
Chief Dr Leemon Ikpea, founder of the Agbonjagwe Leemon Ikpea Foundation, has donated a 62-bed medical centre to the Ewatto community in the Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State. The facility, commissioned on October 19, 2026, was constructed at an estimated cost of N2.227 billion.
Equipped with modern medical technology, the centre aims to improve healthcare access for Ewatto and surrounding areas, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for medical attention. Services will include emergency and urgent care, maternal and child health, diagnostic and laboratory services, pharmacy services, and specialist referral care.
Ikpea stated that the project was a response to local healthcare challenges and intended to serve as a lasting legacy. He noted that the initiative is meant to complement government efforts by the Federal and Edo State governments to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
