Chieti establishes technical committee for Brecciarola railway works

The municipality of Chieti has established a permanent technical committee to manage the railway doubling project in the Brecciarola district. This committee, involving the municipality, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI), and the contracting company, will conduct its first official site inspection on October 14 to address mobility, environmental, and safety concerns.

To mitigate the impact of the construction, the administration is focusing on air quality monitoring, heavy traffic regulation, and road maintenance. The municipality has also requested that RFI evaluate the feasibility of a new local railway stop, which is not currently included in the project.

RFI has committed 1.8 million euros in compensation funds, which will be entirely reinvested into urban regeneration projects for the Brecciarola neighborhood. Proposed initiatives include the enhancement of the historic Church of San Bartolomeo.
