Chieti hospital opens Abruzzo’s first adolescent gynecology clinic

The SS. Annunziata hospital in Chieti has opened Abruzzo’s first specialized clinic dedicated to childhood and adolescent gynecology. The facility operates under the aegis of EGOI (Experts Group on Inositol in Basic and Clinical Research and on PMOS), an international network of researchers and clinicians.

The clinic focuses on providing integrated care for gynecological, endocrine, and metabolic conditions, with a specific emphasis on Polycystic Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). To ensure comprehensive management for young patients and their families, the project utilizes a multidisciplinary model involving gynecologists, pediatricians, pediatric endocrinologists, radiologists, geneticists, child neuropsychiatrists, and psychologists.

Services offered include the evaluation of vulvovaginitis, pubertal development alterations, congenital anomalies, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, and PMOS. The clinic will also provide specialized ultrasound diagnostics, endocrinological evaluations for pubertal and menstrual disorders, and counseling services regarding sexual and reproductive health.
