Chieti Province clarifies Via Verde railway station redevelopment

Francesco Menna, President of the Province of Chieti, has issued a clarification regarding the redevelopment of former railway stations along the Via Verde on the Costa dei Trabocchi, responding to comments made by Abruzzo Region President Marco Marsilio.

Following a protocol signed in December 2023 between the Abruzzo Region and the Province of Chieti, approximately 2 million euros were allocated for the acquisition of properties in San Vito Chietino, Fossacesia, Torino di Sangro, and Vasto. A final expropriation decree was adopted on May 20, transitioning these spaces into provincial state property for tourism and sustainable mobility.

The planned redevelopment includes tourist infopoints, sports and hospitality centers, and dining areas. Specific uses for each site include a fishing documentation center in San Vito Chietino, a co-working hub in Fossacesia, a cultural area in Torino di Sangro, and a library in Vasto.
