Chieti Provincial Council rejects road maintenance motion

The Provincial Council of Chieti met to discuss several administrative matters, beginning with a minute of silence for a young worker who died in a workplace accident in Scerni.

During the session, the council rejected a motion from the ‘La Provincia che vogliamo’ group regarding a new framework for agreements between the Province and local municipalities for routine road maintenance and emergency repairs. Members of the center-left majority argued that the proposed tool was not more efficient or economical than existing protocols. They noted that since 2019, the Province has already utilized a standard agreement model for extraordinary maintenance, resulting in 47 implemented conventions with local municipalities for projects such as road consolidations, roundabouts, and sidewalks.
