Chieti residents petition for church restoration and railway mitigation

Residents of the Brecciarola district in Chieti held a public assembly attended by approximately 400 people to discuss local infrastructure and community preservation. During the meeting, citizens presented Mayor Giovanni Legnini with a petition signed by over 680 residents requesting the restoration and reopening of the San Bartolomeo Apostolo church. The community is calling for the municipal administration to mediate with the Diocese of Chieti-Vasto to facilitate this process.

The assembly also addressed the impact of the Rome–Pescara railway line speed-up project. The administration reported ongoing discussions with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) to secure compensation and mitigation measures. These measures aim to protect local road networks, reduce environmental impacts, and address urban fractures caused by the new railway layout.

Additionally, the city announced the completion of the ex Casone regeneration project, funded by the PNRR. The facility is set to become a social and cultural hub, serving as a headquarters for local associations and the future Neighborhood Council.
