Chieti to hold public assembly on Pescara-Roma railway project

The Municipality of Chieti has scheduled a public assembly for October 2, 2026, to discuss the Pescara-Roma railway doubling project and its impact on the Brecciarola district. The meeting will address urban regeneration efforts and the results of institutional discussions held with RFI and the Regional Department of Infrastructure.

Mayor Giovanni Legnini stated that the administration is seeking greater protections for local residents. Key topics for discussion include revised compensation criteria, the implementation of compensatory works, environmental and public health monitoring during construction, and sustainable traffic management. The municipality has also requested the establishment of a permanent technical committee involving the municipality, RFI, and construction firms to oversee the works and address emerging issues.
