Chieuti book launch celebrates local heritage with “Il Tarallo di San Giorgio”

On April 21 in Chieuti, Italy, a presentation was held for the book “Il Tarallo di San Giorgio” by local historian Angelo Maria Brunetti. The work documents the town’s traditional tarallo pastry, family genealogies, clergy history, and Arbëreshë cultural roots, aiming to preserve community memory for younger generations. The event was moderated by Dr. Chiara Gabriele and attended by Mayor Diego Iacono, who emphasized the importance of safeguarding cultural and human heritage as part of concrete projects for the town’s future.

Brunetti described the research as a responsibility to protect the shared stories, rituals, and symbols that define Chieuti’s identity amid rapid social and economic changes.
