Chignahuapan celebrates 30 years of the Festival de la Luz y la Vida
Chignahuapan is preparing for the 30th edition of the Festival de la Luz y la Vida, scheduled to take place from October 30 to November 2. The event, which celebrates the cultural identity and traditions of the 'Pueblo Mágico', focuses on the connection between life and death through music, dance, and symbolic rituals.
Authorities from the Secretaría de Desarrollo Turístico expect more than 85,000 visitors during the festival period. This influx is projected to generate an economic impact exceeding 75 million pesos, benefiting local sectors including hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and small businesses.
The celebration features community-led performances, with dancers trained in local schools passing traditions through generations. The festivities include a torchlight walk that culminates at the lake, integrating traditional expressions with the region's unique worldview. Additionally, Museos Puebla is collaborating to recognize the artists, artisans, and organizers who have maintained the tradition for three decades.
