Chihuahua and Sinaloa launch health investigation in Jicapore

Health authorities from Chihuahua and Sinaloa have launched a coordinated medical and epidemiological response in Jicapore, a remote community located near the border of both states. The intervention follows reports of approximately 35 individuals experiencing fever and general malaise.

While preliminary reports suggested the death of an adolescent, health officials have not yet confirmed the exact number of fatalities or the specific cause of the symptoms. Although some reports have speculated about dengue, laboratory results are still pending to confirm a diagnosis. Medical teams are collecting blood samples from symptomatic patients as well as water samples from wells and other consumption sources.

Due to the difficult geographic access to Jicapore, Chihuahua is deploying two mobile medical units, while epidemiological personnel are being transported by air. Additionally, the State Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples and Communities is providing 50 food packages to support local families. Authorities are conducting case searches and establishing an epidemiological perimeter to identify patients requiring hospital transfer.
