Chiapas Governor advances police professionalization and government restructuring
In Chiapas, Governor Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar has initiated a series of administrative and educational measures to strengthen local security forces. During an event in Tapachula, Ramírez presented high school certificates to municipal police officers from several regions, including Sierra Mariscal, Istmo-Costa, and Soconusco, as part of an academic regularization process.
To support continued professionalization, Óscar Alberto Aparicio Avendaño, Secretary of the People's Security, announced the availability of scholarships for security personnel to pursue higher education at the Universidad de Seguridad Pública del Sureste. The initiative aims to improve the efficiency and human quality of law enforcement through continuous training.
Additionally, the Chiapas government has implemented new administrative appointments, including the naming of Jorge Enrique Hernández Bielma as Secretary General of Government and Mediation, and Amira López Habid as Subsecretary of Education, as part of a broader effort to decentralize government operations from Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
