Chihuahua authorities airlift newborn for emergency medical care
An inter-institutional emergency operation was launched to transport a two-day-old Rarámuri infant from Baborigame to Chihuahua City for specialized medical care. The newborn was suffering from a preliminary cardiorespiratory complication, identified as aspiration.
The rescue involved a multi-stage transfer: an initial land journey from the community to the municipal seat of Guachochi, followed by an aerial transfer using a Bell 407 aircraft from the State Public Security Secretariat. Despite difficult weather conditions, medical personnel and volunteers from the State Civil Protection Coordination supervised the flight.
Upon arrival in Chihuahua, the infant was transferred to an ambulance from MediChihuahua and taken to the Children's Hospital for intensive specialized treatment.
