Chihuahua awards 2026 Pedro Palma Tourism Merit Recognition

The Chihuahua State Government held the fourth edition of the “Pedro Palma” Tourism Merit Award 2026 to recognize individuals contributing to the state's tourism sector. The ceremony was led by Edibray Gómez Gallegos, head of the State Secretariat of Tourism.

Five individuals were honored for their dedication and impact on the industry. Award recipients included Rarámuri artisan and luthier Patrocinio López López, promoter Sonia Estrada Morales, and hotelier Rogelio Ramos. Virginia Méndez Gutiérrez, known as “Mamá Tita,” was recognized for her hospitality in Urique and her support of the Caballo Blanco Ultra Marathon, which has helped promote the Sierra Tarahumara internationally. Additionally, a posthumous tribute was paid to Raúl Rodríguez Prieto, a guide and promoter of Chihuahua's natural and cultural heritage.

The award was established in 2023 by the Secretariat of Tourism and the State Council to coincide with World Tourism Day. The event was attended by over 250 guests, including business leaders, service providers, and government officials.
