Chihuahua Congress awards 2026 Educational Merit Medals

The Congress of Chihuahua held a solemn session to present the 2026 Chihuahua Medal for Educational Merit. The awards recognized excellence in both individual and collective teaching categories.

In the individual category, Dr. Gladiz Esperanza Rodríguez Ríos won for her project ‘Re’ea Benébo’ in the Guachochi municipality. The initiative focuses on strengthening education in indigenous communities by developing contextualized teaching materials, such as alphabets and books, in the Rarámuri and Ódame languages to improve literacy.

In the collective category, a group of educators from Juárez was honored for their project ‘Teaching in the Era of Artificial Intelligence’. The team, which includes Dr. Lucina Ávila Hernández and others, utilized AI tools like NotebookLM to assist with administrative tasks, lesson planning, and classroom diversity. This technical-pedagogical strategy was implemented across 30 schools, impacting 1,834 students and 56 directors during the 2025–2026 school cycle.
