Chihuahua Culture Secretariat awards 23 film projects with 30 million pesos

The Secretaría de Cultura of the Mexican state of Chihuahua announced the results of the first edition of the Estímulo Chihuahuense para el Cine (Cinechih). Twenty‑three projects were selected to receive financial support totaling 29,969,490 pesos, almost the entire 30‑million‑peso budget.

Beneficiaries come from the municipalities of Chihuahua, Juárez, Delicias, Meoqui and Cuauhtémoc. Selections cover several categories: script (e.g., "Inventaron que estábamos muertos"), pre‑production ("Las Geishas"), post‑production ("OFFSIDERS / Los fuera de lugar"), short‑film production (including "A mi tía le gustan los fantasmas" and "Lucecita"), feature‑film production (such as "El nuevo párroco de Rosario" and "The Southern Boys"), and promotion/diffusion ("¡Arre! Hacer cine" and "Cine itinerante Chihuahua").

The program links the cultural sector with the business community by redirecting the payroll tax (ISN) to fund these initiatives, aiming to strengthen the audiovisual industry in Chihuahua.
