Chihuahua education official denies school closures
Francisco Hugo Gutiérrez Dávila, the Secretary of Education and Sports in Chihuahua, has denied reports that schools are being closed due to declining enrollment. He stated that the department is instead reorienting teaching and administrative staff toward schools with higher needs to optimize available resources.
For the upcoming school year, the state plans to serve approximately 660,000 basic education students across federal and state subsystems in all 67 municipalities. Additionally, about 300,000 students in upper secondary and higher education will be served, bringing the total number of students in the state to nearly one million.
