Chihuahua hosts ExpoGan 2026 and anticipates winter tourism surge
The Union Ganadera Regional de Chihuahua (UGRCh) has officially inaugurated ExpoGan Chihuahua 2026, an event running from October 22 to November 1. This edition marks the 90th anniversary of the UGRCh. Álvaro Bustillos, president of the UGRCh, noted that the livestock sector faces significant challenges, including drought and restrictions on live cattle exports to the United States. Bustillos highlighted ongoing dialogues with Mexican and U.S. authorities to protect producers' interests and welcomed the gradual reopening of authorized crossings, such as Palomas-Columbus, to restore commercial certainty.
Separately, the ¡Ah Chihuahua! Trust anticipates approximately 2.5 million visitors from outside the state during the winter tourism season, which spans from October to late February. Director Julio Chávez Ventura reported that the Sierra Tarahumara region, particularly Divisadero and Barrancas del Cobre, is seeing high demand. Hotels in Divisadero are reportedly at full capacity, with significant interest from foreign tourists and high reservation rates for the year-end holidays.
