Chihuahua informal economy grows to 253 billion pesos

The informal economy in Chihuahua generated 253,386 million pesos during the first quarter of the year, marking a 5.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year. According to an analysis by the Private Sector Competitive Intelligence Platform (PICsp) based on INEGI data, this figure represents 3.0 percent of Mexico's national total.

The informal economy is divided into two main components: the informal sector, consisting of unregistered businesses, and other forms of informality, which include workers without social security. In Chihuahua, the informal sector generated 148,821 million pesos, while other modalities accounted for 104,565 million pesos.

By sector, the tertiary sector led the informal economy, generating 120,766 million pesos (47.6 percent of the total). The secondary sector followed with 112,722 million pesos (44.5 percent), and the primary sector contributed 19,898 million pesos (7.9 percent).
