Chihuahua launches Soy México 2026 nationality program

The Chihuahua State Government has launched the ‘Soy México 2026’ program, designed to assist individuals born in the United States to children of Mexican parents in obtaining official recognition of their Mexican nationality.

Through this initiative, beneficiaries can obtain their Mexican birth certificate and CURP, enabling them to exercise rights related to education, employment, economic activity, and social security without losing rights acquired in their country of birth. The program waives fees for rights, translations, and apostilles, resulting in a savings of approximately 1,035 pesos per procedure.

The program is available at Civil Registry offices in several locations, including Ciudad Juárez, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Delicias, Ojinaga, Hidalgo del Parral, Camargo, Cuauhtémoc, Jiménez, Chihuahua, and Guachochi. In Ciudad Juárez, applicants can visit the Bellavista, Pueblito Mexicano, and El Mezquital offices from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 14:00.

To complete the process, applicants must present their original and a copy of their U.S. birth certificate, the original and a copy of their Mexican parent's birth certificate or registration, a photo ID, and a Certificate of Non-Existence of Birth Registration. The program is valid from August 10 through November 30, 2026.
