Chihuahua Mayor Bonilla confronts budget cuts while launching aid for 120 expectant mothers

Municipal president Marco Antonio Bonilla Mendoza of Chihuahua led a baby‑shower event for 120 pregnant women, marking the close of the first cycle of the "Más Vida" program. The ceremony, organized with the local business foundation and municipal social services, provided the women with gifts, psychological support, legal advice, lactation guidance and other early‑childhood services. Bonilla said, "There will be difficult moments, obstacles and concerns, but if you ask me if I would live this story again, I would say yes a thousand times. Nothing is bigger than life, being a mother or father and supporting our children while they grow."

At the same time, Bonilla warned that the city’s finances are under strain after a cumulative reduction of about 121.5 million pesos in federal participations during the first half of the year. He said the cuts could force the cancellation of municipal works and projects, adding, "We are anxious and worried. More than 120 million pesos is not a small figure; it is roughly the cost of the Aldama road bridge and the Air Force project." The mayor criticized federal austerity measures and called for a fair allocation of resources to avoid further project suspensions.
