Chihuahua and El Paso sign sister city agreement
Chihuahua and El Paso have signed a sister city agreement to strengthen regional ties and foster collaboration across several strategic sectors. The agreement, signed by Chihuahua Mayor Marco Bonilla and El Paso Mayor Renard Johnson, aims to enhance cooperation in economy, education, tourism, culture, and innovation.
This historic meeting marks the first official visit by an El Paso mayor to the city of Chihuahua. The partnership focuses on leveraging complementary capacities in areas such as the aerospace industry, higher education, entrepreneurship, and supply chains to benefit the interconnected border region.
Separately, the state and municipal governments of Chihuahua announced the distribution schedule for the 2026 Economic Support Program for Persons with Permanent Disabilities. Beneficiaries can collect their support cards between August 28 and September 4 at the Direction of Vulnerable Groups and Prevention of Discrimination. The program provides varying levels of financial assistance to thousands of individuals to cover essential needs such as food and medicine.
