Chihuahua Mayor Marco Bonilla Leads RMCAN Session Approving Child‑Friendly City Prize

Mayor Marco Bonilla of Chihuahua chaired the third ordinary session of the Mexican Network of Child‑Friendly Cities (RMCAN). Municipal leaders from across Mexico approved the call for the second edition of the National "Child‑Friendly City" prize, which aims to recognize municipal initiatives that promote, protect and restore children’s rights.

Bonilla presented an activity report showing that the network now includes 166 permanent and 52 temporary member municipalities, up from 155 members previously. The session highlighted recent trainings and regional assemblies held in Chihuahua municipalities such as Parral, Bocoyna, Creel and Meoqui. Activist and writer Dafna Viniegra shared strategies for creating safer environments for children. The network announced its final session will take place on 22 August to wrap up current work.

“All these actions have one purpose: to build municipalities that are more prepared, more sensitive and more committed to the development of our present and future generations,” Bonilla said.
