Chihuahua, Mexico expands childcare centers and prenatal vaccination services

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) in Chihuahua reported that the first Children’s Education and Care Center (CECI) in Ciudad Juárez, called Paraje Oriente, began operations on 16 June. The new facility is fully completed and can serve up to 250 children aged from 43 days to four years. Additional centers at Las Gladiolas, San Isidro, Praderas del Sol and other sites are nearing completion, with civil works finished and licensing processes underway.

Separately, the Municipal Institute of Pensions (IMPE) in Chihuahua announced that pregnant women will soon be able to receive a range of vaccines—including varicella, hepatitis and influenza—at its facilities. The program, open to all residents, aims to protect mothers and newborns from vaccine‑preventable diseases during pregnancy and the early post‑natal period.

Both initiatives aim to improve early‑childhood care and maternal health in the state of Chihuahua.
