Chihuahua Municipal Institute of Women promotes violence prevention tool

The Municipal Institute of Women (IMM) in Chihuahua is encouraging the public to use the ‘Violentómetro’ (Violentometer), a tool designed to identify warning signs of violence and prevent abuse. The tool helps individuals recognize various manifestations of violence in partner, family, or other social environments.

The instrument classifies behaviors by alert levels, ranging from normalized actions such as mockery, excessive jealousy, and control, to high-risk situations involving insults, threats, humiliation, isolation from friends and family, financial control, and physical aggression. The IMM emphasizes that violence often escalates gradually through manipulation and devaluation rather than starting with physical aggression.

Women seeking guidance or support can contact the IMM Vulnerability Department at 614-410-23-05 from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, or visit the Edificio Libertad in the city center. In emergencies, the public is advised to call 9-1-1.
