Chihuahua Municipality links 744 school cameras to PECUU surveillance network

The Chihuahua Municipal Government has connected 744 cameras from educational institutions to the Plataforma Escudo Chihuahua Capital (PECUU) to enhance surveillance and prevention in school environments. This system allows for real-time monitoring to facilitate faster responses to emergencies or potential criminal activities.

Through the 'Escuela Segura' program, the Municipal Public Security Directorate incorporated 62 new private cameras between August 2025 and June 2026. This initiative allows educational institutions to voluntarily link their video surveillance equipment to the municipal network. Images are monitored from the Monitoring and Operations Center to detect risks, follow up on reports, and coordinate police deployment.

Access to the footage is governed by established guidelines and is restricted to emergency situations, suspected criminal acts, or when authorized by the owning institution. The program aims to strengthen coordination with educational communities to protect students, teachers, and families.
