Chihuahua police officer shoots armed man in Los Olivos
A municipal police officer shot and killed an armed man, identified as César Santillán Macías, during an intervention in the Los Olivos residential area of Chihuahua. The incident occurred on Sunday following citizen reports that a man was threatening people with a firearm.
Security camera and patrol car footage show the confrontation near the intersection of Olivar de Alicante and Olivo Silvestre. According to reports and video evidence, Santillán Macías allegedly pointed a weapon at the officer and fired shots, prompting the officer to return fire with a service weapon. A revolver was recovered at the scene.
Chihuahua Mayor Marco Bonilla Mendoza expressed support for the officer, stating that the response was aimed at protecting the agent's life. Bonilla noted that the deceased individual had a prior record involving a homicide investigation. While the municipal administration supports the officer, the State Attorney General's Office will conduct the official investigation to determine legal responsibilities.
