Mexico and Honduras police seize weapons, arrest dozens in anti‑crime operations

In the Mexican state of Chihuahua, the Secretariat of Public Security (SSPE) led by Gilberto Loya announced that 72 people were detained during a week of operations. Authorities seized nine stolen vehicles, 10 firearms, 48 magazines and 1,301 ammunition rounds. Drug seizures included 124 doses of cocaine, 2,910 doses of crystal meth and 2.7 kg of marijuana, with an estimated economic impact of more than 337,000 pesos on criminal groups. Loya said, “We continue strengthening operational presence throughout the state, using intelligence, technology and institutional coordination to generate concrete results for citizen safety.”

In Honduras, the Division Against Extortion and Terrorist Associations (DAET) reported that 29 individuals were captured in 25 days across nationwide operations targeting extortion, drug trafficking and organized crime. Ten of those arrests were carried out under formal arrest warrants. DAET director Daniel Molina noted, “During these 25 days we have made important captures, totaling 29 detainees, including drug traffickers, weapons carriers and members of criminal structures such as MS and gang 18.” The captures aim to advance judicial processes and reinforce public security.

Both agencies emphasized coordination with other governmental levels and the use of technology to dismantle criminal networks.
