Mexico's Rural Development Secretariat Deploys 20 Weather Stations Across Chihuahua

The Secretaría de Desarrollo Rural (SDR) in Chihuahua announced the delivery of 20 automatic weather‑monitoring stations to municipalities, producer associations, irrigation districts and farms. The equipment, provided on loan for more than one million pesos, will record temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind, solar radiation and other variables. SDR water‑use director Alan García Carrasco said the goal is “to have precise and timely data to support agricultural planning, efficient water management and decision‑making in the face of Chihuahua’s climate conditions.” The first unit was installed at San Francisco de Conchos near the La Boquilla dam, with the full network expected to be operational by the end of July, covering locations such as Cusihuiriachi, Casas Grandes, Buenaventura, Camargo and Ojinaga.

In parallel, SDR issued a call to municipalities to apply for the “Apoyo para la Realización y/o Participación en Eventos” program, which offers cash or in‑kind incentives to support participation in forums, fairs and other events that promote primary‑sector and agro‑industrial products. Interested parties must submit applications to the Dirección de Agronegocios in Chihuahua City before the budget is exhausted.
