Chihuahua reports cattle screwworm cases amid livestock export reopening
Chihuahua reports 88 active cases of Cattle Screwworm (GBG), bringing the state's total to 361 since records began. This data, provided by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development and Senasica for epidemiological week 38, comes as the San Jerónimo–Santa Teresa livestock crossing reopens, allowing Chihuahua cattle exports to resume to the United States.
Nationally, Mexico has recorded 2,035 active cases of the pest. Chihuahua ranks 11th in the country for active cases. Within the state, the most affected municipalities include Chínipas with nine active cases, followed by Allende and Balleza with eight each. Matamoros has recorded the highest cumulative number of cases in the state with 32.
