Chihuahua reports femicide of 911 operator and ongoing detention of Bertha Gómez Fong

In Chihuahua, Mexico, family and colleagues held a final farewell for Nicole Alexia Mingura Montes, a 911 emergency operator who was killed on August 26. Authorities report she was the victim of a femicide committed by her former partner, Carlos Sigala, who subsequently took his own life. During a memorial service, colleagues performed a final roll call for the victim, noting her dedication to helping others through her emergency dispatch work.

Separately, Bertha Gómez Fong, wife of former governor César Duarte Jáquez, remains in legal uncertainty five months after her detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in El Paso, Texas. While initially detained for administrative issues and lack of migratory documentation, her status remains unresolved. There are conflicting reports regarding whether the detention was prompted by requests from Mexican authorities or was strictly a matter of immigration enforcement.
