Chihuahua rolls out mining supplier program amid dip in IMMEX value added

The Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE) in Chihuahua has launched a Development of Suppliers program for the mining sector, coordinated with the Chihuahua Mining Cluster and the Centro de Competitividad de México. The initiative aims to strengthen micro, small and medium enterprises (MIPyMES) by providing specialized consulting, training, strategic linkages and financial diagnostics, helping firms meet the mining industry's demands for quality, safety, sustainability and efficiency. Chihuahua ranks fourth nationally in mining production value, offering a sizable market for local suppliers.

During the January‑April period, the value added by the state's IMMEX (manufacturing, maquiladora and export services) sector amounted to 94.308 billion pesos, a 1.9% decline from the same period a year earlier. This placed Chihuahua sixth in the nation, contributing 6.8% of Mexico’s total IMMEX value added. Half of the amount (50.3%) was paid as wages, accounting for 13.3% of the national share. The sector also absorbed 369,201 workers, a 3.3% annual decrease, and recorded 498 establishments, ranking third nationally. Average monthly salaries for administrative staff reached 37,883 pesos, the second‑highest in the country.
