Chihuahua rural women contest deadline set for September 15

The Secretariat of Rural Development (SDR) has announced that the deadline to submit entries for the “Mujer Rural 2026” contest is September 15. The initiative aims to recognize the life stories, efforts, and contributions of women in Chihuahua who drive economic, social, and cultural development within their communities.

Participants can apply personally or nominate another woman by submitting a letter detailing her life history, career path, and contributions to her field. The contest includes a wide range of categories, such as agriculture, livestock, traditional gastronomy, craftsmanship, and social leadership. Selection criteria will focus on the length of time in the activity, social impact, and the significance of the individual's work. The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 15, 2026, at Expo Chihuahua, coinciding with International Rural Women's Day.
