Chihuahua State Congress launches 2026 Medical Merit Medal

The Chihuahua State Congress, through its Health Commission, has launched the call for the first “Chihuahua Medical Merit Medal 2026.” The award is designed to recognize the career achievements and contributions of medical professionals who are either natives of or residents of the state.

The recognition features three distinct categories: Academic, Research, and Social Work. Each category will be awarded a medal and a financial incentive of 30,000 pesos. Winners will be honored during the Physician's Day celebrations in October.

To qualify, candidates must hold a professional degree as a Physician and Surgeon or equivalent and have resided in the state for at least five years. Selection criteria include continuous training, specialist formation, publications, technical contributions, and voluntary work in vulnerable communities. The award may also be granted posthumously to a nominee's closest relative.
