Claudia Sheinbaum presents second government report in San Luis Potosí
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum presented her second government report at the Arena Potosí in San Luis Potosí before an audience of approximately 21,000 people. Accompanied by Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, Sheinbaum highlighted the coordination between federal and state governments regarding social welfare, infrastructure, health, and security.
Key infrastructure projects discussed include the bidding process for the San Luis Potosí–Nuevo Laredo passenger train, the expansion of the Tamuín Airport, and various highway and water works. In terms of social programs, Sheinbaum noted that nearly 982,000 residents in the state benefit from welfare programs, including pensions for seniors and people with disabilities.
During the event, Sheinbaum briefly paused her departure to assist an elderly woman who fainted in the crowd due to high temperatures. The event also saw moments of political tension, including boos directed at Governor Gallardo during his remarks, and discussions regarding the political relationship between the President and the Governor following previous disagreements over local succession.
