Morelia inaugurates MACAAM contemporary art museum
The city of Morelia has officially opened the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo y Artes Audiovisuales de Morelia (MACAAM), located in the historic former Municipal Palace. The inauguration was attended by Mayor Alfonso Martínez Alcázar, Cinépolis CEO Alejandro Ramírez Magaña, musician Marco Antonio Solís, and visual artist Javier Marín.
The new cultural center features six exhibition halls with rotating displays, a cinematographic documentation center, a video library, a bookstore, and an auditorium. The facility aims to provide a space for contemporary art and audiovisual expressions, repurposing a building that holds historical significance as the former home of Melchor Ocampo.
In addition to the museum opening, the 24th edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) is underway from October 16 to 25. The festival features prominent industry figures and aims to promote Michoacán's cultural and gastronomic tourism through various film screenings and professional training initiatives.
