Chihuahua State Showcases Mata Ortiz Art at Mexican Consulate in Atlanta

The Government of the State of Chihuahua inaugurated the exhibition “Mata Ortiz: arte y tradición” at the Consulate General of Mexico in Atlanta. The event was organized by the Secretariat of Innovation and Economic Development and the Fodarch trust, and attended by consular officials, cultural representatives, and members of the Mexican community.

During the opening, Fodarch presented a blockchain‑based solution to certify the authenticity and traceability of Mata Ortiz ceramics, linking each piece to its artisan and production process. SIDE head Ulises Fernández Gamboa highlighted the role of digital tools in protecting cultural heritage, while Fodarch director Nayeli Ontiveros Velo emphasized support for artisans without altering the historical value of their work. The exhibition also honored the legacy of master potter Juan Quezada Celado, with consular general Rafael Laveaga recognizing the effort to promote Chihuahua’s artistic talent in new markets.
