Dominican Republic expects heat and isolated showers
The Dominican Republic Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) forecasts limited significant rainfall across most of the country this Friday due to an anticyclonic circulation. However, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon in several provinces, including La Altagracia, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, San Cristóbal, Barahona, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, and northern Gran Santo Domingo.
Temperatures are expected to remain high, with maximums ranging between 31°C and 35°C, creating a thermal sensation higher than the recorded values. Authorities recommend staying hydrated, wearing light-colored clothing, and avoiding direct sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Vulnerable groups, such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women, are advised to take extra precautions.
Regarding tropical activity, Hurricane Isaías is located approximately 590 kilometers north of Progreso, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 175 km/h. Indomet stated that the hurricane does not pose a threat to the Dominican Republic due to its current position and trajectory.
