Chihuahua's ChidaMente mental health program expands via MediChihuahua partnership
The Instituto Chihuahuense de la Juventud (Ichijuv) and the State Health Secretariat signed an agreement to strengthen the ChidaMente program. The pact, endorsed by Ichijuv director Fernanda Martínez and Health Secretary Gilberto Baeza, creates a referral pathway for young people aged 12‑29 who need specialized psychiatric care, connecting them with psychiatrists from MediChihuahua.
ChidaMente already offers free psychological counseling, both in‑person and virtually, to youths throughout the state. The new collaboration integrates psychiatric services to provide a comprehensive mental‑health network. Martínez emphasized the program’s importance, stating, “A veces, como jóvenes no sabemos lo caro que puede llegar a ser enfermarnos o necesitar un especialista…”. The initiative aims to ensure that no young person faces mental‑health challenges alone.
