Chihuahua’s electronics industry draws $450 million investment, boosts growth

Secretary of Innovation and Economic Development Ulises Fernández said the state of Chihuahua remains resilient by attracting productive capital despite a challenging global economy. He highlighted Inventec’s recent announcement of an investment exceeding $450 million to expand its electronics operations in Ciudad Juárez and the state capital, reinforcing confidence among national and foreign firms.

The electronics sector has now overtaken auto parts in the state, according to cluster president Jesús Carrillo Armenta, who credited higher demand from artificial‑intelligence applications, data‑center projects and U.S. tariffs on Chinese components. While Mexico’s overall manufacturing output slipped 0.6 % in May, production of computers, communications and other electronic equipment rose 9.3 % year‑over‑year, indicating a shift toward higher‑tech manufacturing in Chihuahua.
