Chihuahua's Mercadito Más Barato and Salta's Meat Fair Offer Discounted Food Packages

In Chihuahua, Mexico, the municipal government led by Mayor Marco Bonilla held the third edition of the "Mercadito Más Barato" at the Centro Deportivo Tricentenario. More than 30 entrepreneurs, along with companies such as Bimbo and Leche Zaragoza, provided basic food items – potatoes, tomatoes, oranges, cucumbers, avocados, bananas, lemons, jalapeños and onions – in a "Mi Bolsita" package priced at 100 pesos. The initiative, supported by the Central de Abastos and local officials including federal deputy Manque Granados, aims to ease inflation's impact on families.

In Salta, Argentina, Governor Gustavo Sáenz and Mayor Emiliano Durand inaugurated the first "Feria de la Carne" in Plaza España. Over 10,000 residents attended, purchasing beef, chicken and fish with discounts of up to 50 %. The fair, organized by the municipality, sought to support local producers and make quality protein more affordable amid economic challenges. Officials indicated the event will become itinerant, returning to other city locations.

Both programs represent local government efforts to provide low‑cost food options to residents, involving public‑private partnerships and aiming to alleviate household budget pressures.
