Chiikawa anime announces revival broadcast and new programming

The TV anime adaptation of the popular series ‘Chiikawa’ will begin a revival broadcast on October 2, featuring highly acclaimed episodes. This special programming will run until December 25, consisting of 25 episodes. The new format will combine terrestrial broadcasts on Fuji TV’s ‘Mezamashi TV’ with limited-time streaming of complete series arcs on YouTube, FOD, and TVer.

During this period, new original episodes will be temporarily paused, with the next installment of the new series scheduled to resume in January 2027. Additionally, a new interactive segment called ‘Chiikawa Chance’ will launch on October 5 within the ‘Mezamashi Janken’ corner, offering monthly prize drawings for fans.

Recent broadcasts have drawn significant attention due to the series' dark undertones. A recent episode featuring the character Hachiware transforming into a monster (Dekatsuyo) caused a stir among viewers, with many noting the intense and unsettling nature of the scene, which contrasts sharply with the show's typically cute aesthetic.
