ChiiKawa movie “Mermaid Island Secret” set for July 24, 2026 release in Japan

The animated film “映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ” (ChiiKawa: Mermaid Island Secret) will premiere in Japanese theaters on July 24, 2026. Promotion for the movie includes a special appearance on Fuji TV’s FNS Song Festival on July 1, where the characters perform the opening theme, and a “Summer Comes Day” event on July 3 that will broadcast six new pieces of information and a premiere of a new film scene on the Toho MOVIE YouTube channel.

In addition to the film, a line of fruit‑flavored, plush‑texture gummies inspired by the movie’s characters and island setting is scheduled for nationwide release in August 2026. The “Island Welcome” gummies come in 11 varieties, are priced at ¥194, and will be sold at major candy retailers across Japan.
