Chiikawa Movie releases opening sequence and cast commentary

The animated film ‘Chiikawa: The Secret of Mermaid Island’ has released a non-credit opening sequence, which was personally structured by the series creator, Nagano. The footage features an all-star cast of characters including Chiikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, Momonga, Kurimanju, Rakko, and Shishisa, depicting their daily lives and adventures.

Voice actors, including Yuka Iguchi (Momonga) and Takayuki Asai (Kurimanju), have shared reflections on the production. The film is noted for its depth, moving beyond simple cuteness to explore more complex and dramatic themes, such as the implications of immortality and the struggles of its small, vulnerable characters. The opening theme, ‘Kutsuzure,’ is performed by the character Hachiware, voiced by Masato Tanaka.
