Chișinău air quality monitored in real time by civic network
The civic network ‘Aer Live Moldova’ is monitoring air quality in Chișinău using sensors that measure atmospheric pollutants and humidity. Data collected from these devices is transmitted online, allowing citizens to track real-time air quality parameters via a dedicated web platform.
Currently, ten sensors belonging to the organization are installed across various sectors of the capital. Additional sensors are located in Rezina, and there are plans to expand the network to Bălți. While air quality was generally good during the summer, Silviu Răcilă, secretary of the civic network, noted that pollutant concentrations tend to increase by approximately 20% as temperatures drop. This rise is attributed to factors such as road traffic, industrial activity, residential heating methods, and the burning of waste.
