The residential construction market in Chișinău is experiencing a period of severe stagnation. Official data from the first half of 2026 indicates that the rate of housing commissioning has dropped drastically compared to the previous year.

Parallel to these market trends, issues regarding illegal construction persist in the capital. On Ciocârliei Street, a project originally authorized in April 2021 for two duplex houses was found to have been transformed into a seven-story residential block. Despite a stop-work order issued by the Technical Supervision Agency in February 2022, construction continued. The developer, DASC DESIGN&BUILD SRL, reportedly attempted to register the building for final reception as an 'individual residential house' to bypass regulations.
