Regional infrastructure works and cycling race impact traffic in Romania and Moldova
Various infrastructure projects and traffic events are impacting mobility across Romania and Moldova. In Moldova, the Tour of Romania cycling race is causing temporary road closures on several national routes between Chișinău and Ungheni, with the National Road Administration advising drivers to plan alternative routes.
In Romania, several cities are managing significant works. Bucharest is seeing the reopening of the Basarab Bridge and ongoing construction at the Constanța Bridge, which is expected to conclude around mid-October. Additionally, a new smart pedestrian crossing system is being piloted in Sector 1 to improve safety. In Timișoara, work has begun on a new maintenance hall for the tram fleet, while Cluj-Napoca is preparing for the closure of the Garibaldi Bridge for utility relocations. Other regional updates include road repairs in Timișoara, park rehabilitations in Lugoj, and upcoming street paving in Caransebeș.
