Literary festivals and cultural initiatives announced in Moldova and Romania

Various literary festivals and cultural initiatives are scheduled across Moldova and Romania for late 2026. In Chișinău, the CHILL Festival will serve as an umbrella event for the International Literature Festival Odesa (ilo) and FILIT Chișinău from September 17–24. This partnership aims to create a transborder literary network, facilitating dialogue between Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, and Europe, with a focus on literature created under wartime conditions.

In Romania, several distinct events are planned. The NOD International Literary Rights Festival will take place in Brașov from September 24–27 under the theme ‘Building Communities’. The Harta Literară (Literary Map) digital platform is set to launch in Iași on September 4 and 5, offering guided literary tours to map urban spaces through stories. Additionally, the ‘Traducători și scriitori în dialog’ project, part of the FILIT workshops, will host a session on Romanian children's literature at Ipotești on September 1.

Educational literary programs are also active. The ‘Tinere condeie’ national creative camp in Călimănești brings together 40 young writers for workshops and competitions. Meanwhile, the ‘Leonard Tuchilatu’ literary camp in Chișinău recently concluded, providing young Moldovan writers with mentorship from authors and critics from both sides of the Prut River to foster critical thinking and professional development.
