Regional traffic disruptions hit cities in Romania and Moldova

Multiple cities in Romania and Moldova are experiencing significant traffic disruptions due to a combination of infrastructure projects, public events, and sporting competitions.

In Bucharest, traffic is restricted on Calea Victoriei for the ‘Străzi Deschise’ cultural event, and public transport lines are being modified for the ‘Tour of Romania’ cycling race. Ongoing tramway modernization works are also affecting eastern districts and the Constanța Bridge area.

Timișoara is facing various closures, including the Garibaldi Bridge reconstruction, railway modernization on the Timișoara Est–Lugoj section, and road closures for the ‘Reborn Run’ charity event and religious processions. Additionally, local authorities are working to expand parking in the Girocului area.

In Chișinău, the ‘Chișinău Marathon 2026’ is causing major disruptions, with several central streets closed and public transport routes modified or suspended for the duration of the race.
