Chikitha Taniparthi wins two gold medals at Asian Games

Indian archer Chikitha Taniparthi secured two gold medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya before exiting the women’s compound individual event in the quarter-finals. Taniparthi first won gold in the women’s team event alongside Prithika Pradeep and Jyothi Surekha Vennam, after the trio defeated China with a world-record score of 238.

Taniparthi then partnered with Sahil Jadhav to win the compound mixed team gold medal. The pair defeated South Korea’s Park Jungyoon and Choi Yonghee in a shoot-off following a 157-157 tie. This victory also secured an Olympic quota place for India in the compound mixed team event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

In the individual compound women’s singles quarter-finals, Taniparthi was eliminated following a narrow 144-143 loss to Indonesia’s Nurisa Dian Ashrifah. Despite leading during the third end, Taniparthi’s final end scores of 8, 9, and 10 were surpassed by Ashrifah’s 10, 10, and 9.
